WHO WE ARE
We Are Creative is a networking organisation for creatives in the Hull and East Riding of Yorkshire region. WAC has 180 members working across all arts disciplines, and membership is free. WAC has a constitution, a bank account, and is co-ordinated by 4 steering group members.

We are dedicated to providing a supportive network for creatives, fostering collaboration, and promoting the growth of the creative community in our region. Our team is committed to offering a platform for creatives to connect, share ideas, support each other and showcase their talents. WAC is a conduit for funders, organisations & venues to link with the large number of freelance creatives across East Yorkshire- and promote positive dialogue and sharing.
History
WAC was established in 2021 after a series of online meetings with artists from the region, who wished to see an organisation that could act as a voice for freelance creatives in Hull and East Yorkshire.

Feedback from members indicates they value the opportunity to:
-
Share information, knowledge and skills
-
Promote their own practice & projects
-
Engage with arts and community orgs in the region
-
Raise any issues that are important to their professional work.

We post artist opportunities regularly on our social media platforms and we’ve worked with the Deep, Risky Cities, Hull Maritime City to flag up commission opportunities. We are also represented on Hey Creative the regional cultural compact.

WAC’s aims are:
-
To be a network and voice for creative professionals in the city and region
-
To articulate their professional ideas, aspirations, and concerns
-
To share knowledge, skills and practices that are beneficial to members
-
To promote and develop ways in which local artists can engage with communities and enhance the broader physical and cultural fabric of the city and landscape of the East Riding.
-
To encourage local authorities, arts funders, and arts organisations to adopt a more pro-active ethos of commissioning and investing in local creative talent
-
To help shape and influence arts policy in the city and region by broadening the debate with and beyond the current key arts organisations and stakeholders
-
To collaborate in providing a vision for post-City of Culture, and a post-pandemic future for the arts in the city and region.
